Liaison Overview

The McKinney-Vento Act requires every Local Education Agency (LEA) to appoint an LEA liaison. The liaison is responsible to help identify temporarily housed youth who may be eligible for enrollment in the school district and to ensure they receive the education and services they are guaranteed by law. PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE NEW LIAISON RESPONSIBILITIES under the Every Student Succeeds Act effective October 1,2016.

Read about the liaison responsibilities or update your liaison contact information for your school district or BOCES. For more information about students experiencing homelessness and the liaison role, see our Top 10 Resources for Liaisons.
