Students who transfer schools often do worse in school than those who don't transfer. The McKinney-Vento Act can help solve this problem by allowing students to stay in the same school and get free transportation.

NYS-TEACHS provides free trainings and annual Workshops across New York State for school districts, social service agencies, and other professionals about the educational rights of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Annual Statewide McKinney-Vento Workshops

Each year NYSED and NYS-TEACHS provide free full-day McKinney-Vento Workshops in New York City, Rochester, and Albany. These Workshops cover material relating to the educational rights of students living in temporary housing.
