Promoting Student Mental Health

Mental health includes our psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It affects how we feel, think and act when we interact with others. This webinar will introduce school staff to the concept of mental health as a continuum of wellness with special attention to the impact of traumatic experiences, including loss, homelessness, poverty, abuse, and neglect.

At the end of the webinar, participants will:

  • Learn about youth mental health, including prevalence, risk, and protective factors, and signs and symptoms of mental health disorders.

  • Explore common misunderstandings and stigma through engaging in activities and small-group discussions.

  • Identify strategies to promote student mental health in school.

  • Practice staff wellness strategies for managing stress at home and in the workplace.
